Out Leadership and the The GenderCool Project, proudly present “Hear Us Out,” a heartfelt series of videos that shine a light on the beautiful and triumphant stories from the transgender and nonbinary community.
These videos share a common truth—the journey is one of growth, resilience, and continuous progress. Out Leadership’s Mila Jam remembers when there were no professional opportunities for Black trans women: “To now be a valued advisor in a corporate role is a full circle moment for me.”
And GenderCool Champion Ashton boldly wants the world to know, “I’m a Gen Z leader. I am the future.”

What started as 19 videos is just the beginning of something special. HearUsOut is a growing and welcoming collection of voices, where every story matters and where lived experiences can inspire. We’re inviting transgender and nonbinary people everywhere to share their stories in this space.
Our hope for this project is to capture the authenticity of the transgender and nonbinary community through real, everyday moments. Tell us about a time when you had a positive experience with an ally, a time when you felt especially proud of your journey, or even about another person in the community that inspires you to be more you. At first, we wondered how Out Leadership’s corporate focus and GenderCool’s youth advocacy would come together. But, from the very start, this collaboration has been uplifting and inspiring! Together, we hope we can change some hearts and minds.

About GenderCool
GenderCool was inspired by the powerful, positive experience of one family. Jen and John are the parents of four, including their daughter, Chazzie, who proudly identifies as transgender. In 2017, their search for positive stories about transgender and nonbinary kiddos like Chazzie turned up (nearly) empty. They could count on one hand the positive stories they found that focused on who these young people are as talented, amazing leaders.
In stark contrast, it took all of five seconds to find a tidal wave of misleading, sensational, negative content about these amazing young people. Something had to be done. Jen joined forces with friend and mentor Gearah Goldstein, an expert on inclusion and belonging, wife, parent, and proud transgender woman. Together, with five other extraordinary young people and their families, GenderCool was born.
The GenderCool Project is committed to creating a world where all transgender and nonbinary youth feel seen, celebrated, and able to live their most authentic lives.
